Procedure Cost Manager is a BI tool within SPC that is used to conduct variance analysis of various procedures for across surgeons & facilities to looks for opportunities for cost cutting and inventory management.

Variance Dashboard

Looks at specific procedures that have opportunities for inventory management & cost cutting and conducts analysis across facilities & surgeons.

Workspace

Is used to create new Variance analysis based on selected settings and Item utilization analysis

Surgeons Performance Analysis

Reports of various surgeons performance based on Case, Encounter Metrics and others like utilization etc.

High Level Findings

• The Variance Analysis procedure restricts the user to perform the cost saving/inventory optimization analysis in a certain manner this consumes time

• The Dashboard, Workspace, Surgeon Performance Analysis reports do not have any analytic data based on which the users can take informed actions for key decision making tasks

• Overall the Preference Card of each surgeon is being analyzed here for opportunities for cost cutting and inventory management

• The UI elements are from Solas but they are not adhering to the style guides or web design standards, we will look at specific issues in the subsequent sections.

• There are specific issues with accessibility and Data visualizations which do not give the end user enough freedom to perform tasks

• The core tasks of the user which is discover cost cutting and inventory management opportunities needs to be the focus which would require the redesign of the current IA

• Conducted a series of discussions with a group of expert users who interact regularly with various users and understand their requirements.

  
  

Pain points

• No means to track if outdated equipment is being used by various surgeons & practitioners

• No Machine Intelligence is present in the system to quickly scope for cost savings & inventory management

• The Dashboard lacks any analytics data based on which the user can start taking informed actions for cost cutting & inventory optimization exercises.

• The users are constrained by certain flows in the applications which may inhibit their accounting practices

• The Workspace essentially does the same thing as Variance dashboard it additionally gives a means to look at Item utilization.

• The Workspace does not have any features to improve efficiency like pinning key metrics etc.

• The SPA component does not include any analytics or other tools to improve the efficiency of the user
